Head of School Joined ISB: 2021 Daniel (lù bīn 陆 彬) is honored to be ISB’s Head of School. Prior to joining ISB, Daniel was the co-founder and CEO of Prospect Schools, one of the highest-performing school networks in New York and among 16 “Schools of the Future” named by the World Economic Forum. In addition to his work at Prospect Schools, Daniel has been instrumental in forming the Diverse Charter Schools Coalition, a group of over 40 U.S. organizations dedicated to creating successful, integrated choice schools. Daniel is a 2002 winner of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching and has held positions in the United States at Sidwell Friends School, SEED Public Charter School, and Collegiate School, as well as in Beijing with School Year Abroad. Daniel holds a degree in mathematics from Hamilton College and advanced degrees in Liberal Studies from St. John’s College in New Mexico and Education Leadership from Columbia University Teachers College. Daniel is married to an artist, Melanie Fischer, and they have two children, Celia and Morton. Daniel enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including rock climbing, beach volleyball, and kiteboarding, and tries not to argue with Melanie when playing doubles tennis.

High School Principal Joined ISB: 2021 Beginning his 21st year in education, Jeff has worked in public, charter, and international schools in four countries: USA, Tanzania, South Korea, and China. He has served as the High School Principal at Seoul Foreign School, Head of Upper School at Atlanta International School, MYP Coordinator at Imagine Wesley Charter School and the International School of Moshi, and taught in Greece, New York. During his career, Jeff has also held the roles of Assistant Principal, DP Coordinator, IGCSE Coordinator and Head of Grade, IB Diploma examiner, and WASC visiting team member. Jeff's credentials include a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University in addition to his Master's Degree in Teaching from the University of Rochester. He loves engaging students, faculty, and parents to build strong school communities.

High School Assistant Principal Joined ISB: August 2016 Growing up on the east coast of the United States, Julie kept chasing warmer weather and more knowledge as she moved from New England to the Deep South. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech and has a Master’s in Education and a K-12 Leadership Certificate from Georgia Southern University. Julie started her teaching career in Savannah, Georgia, then moved overseas with her husband and has spent the past 16 years in international education in Peru, Japan, and now in Beijing, China. She has a passion for instructional leadership especially in the areas of innovation, literacy, inclusion, and social-emotional learning. When not engaged with students, teachers and the ISB community, Julie likes to cook, read, and explore the outdoors and amazing food with her family.
