Personal Statement:
A 2-3 Page Personal Statement in Word or PDF outlining your academic interests, professional goals, reasons for selecting this graduate program, and the specific concentration you wish to enter (PhD in Composition & Rhetoric, PhD in Literature, MA in Composition & Rhetoric, MA in Literature, MFA in Creative Writing/Fiction, MFA in Creative Writing/Nonfiction, MFA in Creative Writing/Poetry, or low-residency MFA in Creative Writing/Fiction, Poetry, or Creative Nonfiction).
Recommendation Letter:
Confidential Letters of Recommendation by former teachers or employers that speak to your aptitude for graduate study. (You will list your recommenders' academic/professional email addresses and they will receive instructions on how to upload their letters.) Three (3) letters required for all graduate degree programs except the low-residency MFA in Creative Writing which requires two (2).
Writing Sample:
A Writing Sample in Word or PDF appropriate to the degree concentration to which you are applying:
Residential PhD, MFA, or MA Writing Samples: for Composition and Rhetoric or Literature, a 15-20 page analytical paper that demonstrates your scholarly abilities and your orientation toward the field.
