Official Transcripts - We must receive one official transcript from EACH college or university attended, whether or not a degree was earned. Transcripts must be official and must be received directly from the Office of the Registrar. We also accept certified electronic copies of transcripts sent directly from your alma mater’s Registrar to socgrad@indiana.edu.

Curriculum Vitae:
Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Most Current Resume – This should list academic degrees, academic accomplishments, awards, scholarships, fellowships, research experience, etc.
Personal Statement:
Personal State/Statement of Intent - When reviewing applications in our department, we would more specifically like to know why you are interested in pursuing graduate study in sociology, the kinds of sociological topics and approaches that interest you, what your career goals are, and why you are interested in our department. We consider 300-500 words an appropriate length for the Statement of Purpose. We do not count words but we discourage applicants from submitting statements much shorter or much longer than this.
Recommendation Letter:
Three Letters of Recommendation - You will be asked for the emails of 3 recommenders when completing your application. Your recommenders will receive an electronic notification that the request has been made as well instructions on how to submit their recommendation.
Writing Sample :
Writing Sample - We encourage applicants to submit writing samples that showcase their ability and further potential to conduct original analysis of primary data (qualitative or quantitative).
