Curriculum Vitae:
The Resume (Recommended length 1-2 pages) should include the following:Educational background including major, minor, type of degree, honors and distinctions;Paid or volunteer experience in social service agencies or other settings (include beginning and ending dates, whether full-time or part-time, number of hours per week);Other work experience;Community and/or college activities;Reading interests (give specific examples).
Personal Statement:
Submit a personal narrative statement that describes your interest in social work and your commitment to social and economic justice.For your Personal Statement please address the following questions in 3 – 4 double-spaced pages. Use proper references as appropriate.The profession of social work is rooted in a set of core values and tenants. Review the mission of the profession and the college, then describe to us how this fits with your professional and personal goals. In addition, tell us how you plan to be fully engaged in all the academic requirements of the MSW program, including field practicum and graduate level coursework while in the program. You may include any additional information relevant for the committee to understand regarding your fit for the program and profession.
Recommendation Letter:
Recommendations are required from persons who can address your ability and potential for graduate education and professional social work practice (i.e., former professors, employment supervisors, professional colleagues). If you graduated from college within the last 5 years, one recommendation from a professor or instructor is required. If you are applying for Advanced Standing, one of your three recommendations must be from your faculty advisor or chairperson of your B.S.W. Program. For all applicants: if more than one of the three recommendations is personal, the file will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed. At least two references should be academic or professional.
