Transcript:
All transcripts must be the original document, forwarded directly from the university; Xerox copies, true copies, notarized copies and other types of copies are not acceptable. In addition, international applicants must send an official copy of their diploma, and all documentation that confers your degree, with English translation.
Applicants from the following countries must send the official transcripts and diplomas as follow:
China: Official transcripts and diplomas (in English and Chinese) must be sent directly to the College of Engineering Office of Admission by China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC), rather than by you or any third party.
Personal Statement:
Personal Statement – The personal statement should be approximately 1-2 typed pages in length, typed, double spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman font, and explain why you are interested in pursuing a MALS degree, what academic and professional qualities you posses that could help you excel in this Program, what goals you hope to achieve, and any other qualities you feel make you an ideal candidate overall.
Recommendation Letter:
Three letters of recommendation
Bank Statement:
An official bank or government sponsorship letter (issued within 6 months of starting at UM) addressed to the University of Miami, guaranteeing the availability of sufficient funds to cover tuition and fees, books, housing, insurance, and personal expenses is required ($50,000 USD). Please note – computer printouts are not acceptable. If the bank account belongs to a relative or other sponsor, a letter of sponsorship addressed to the University of Miami is also required, and must contain the following – amount of financial support promised for the first year of enrollment, date written, name and address of the sponsor, relationship of the sponsor to the student, sponsor’s signature.
Essay:
Essay – Choose a book, play or movie and write a 2 page essay on why the piece is interesting. Essays must be written in the third person, typed, double spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins, and proofed for errors.
