Transcript: Electronic copies of transcripts of all previous undergraduate or graduate coursework. Only admitted applicants will be required to submit official transcripts. Personal Statement: A personal statement of two to three double-spaced typed pages, submitted electronically. Recommendation Letter: Three letters of recommendation, submitted electronically. Once you submit your application for final review, your professors will receive an automated email requesting that they upload their recommendation letter. Please arrange for the letters to be received by December 22nd for the PhD program, or March 8th for the MA program. A substantial sample of a critical or interpretative essay: A substantial sample (15-25 pages) of critical writing on a literary topic. Creative writing is welcome in addition but since our degree is given for critical thinking and scholarly research, we must see what a student can do in those areas, submitted electronically.
